PPT with Adhata Trust at Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026

With a nip in the air and the speakers blaring heart thumping Bollywood hits, the sun had not risen yet but there was sunshine on the faces of every person in the senior citizen tent at the Tata Mumbai Marathon on the 18 th day of January, 2026.
The air was buzzing with morning snacks and warm ups and the click of safety pins pinning up the numbered bibs.
As the sun rose on the Mumbai skyline, 60- 90+ year-young Adhatians from across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane from Adhata’s pan-Mumbai centres set out on the roads as the rays hit the concrete. As our team from Photography Promotion Trust photographed the excited and pumped-up runners our viewfinder was lit up by a blue sea of waving hands, wide smiles, unique props and costumes, and morning greetings- all gathering towards the starting line.
With the sun now up and gentle rays lighting the already sparkly faces, against the Victorian Gothic-style backdrop of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus- the countdown to the senior citizen’s run began unfolding on the led screens that lined up the pathway.
To cheer the 2,300 Adhatians, among the ones in attendance were actors Amir Khan and Dino Morea, filmmaker Kiran Rao and seven time Olympic medallist and official event ambassador for the 21st edition, Andre De Grasse was also spotted at the event supporting the runners. Also gracing the event were the Founder of Adhata, Mr. Arun Nanda, and Director Ms. Pooja Nanda, flagging off the senior run.
We had together a small team of 4 photographers from PPT covering the event and capturing the energetic start to the Sunday in Mumbai. Our team joined in on the 4 km stretch through Marine Drive, the newly constructed Coastal Road, through the streets of the town side right up until the finish line.
At the various cheering points along the way were volunteers from other organisations from around Mumbai, holding placards and props and playing music while the Adhatians often joined in and busted some moves!
Dhols and dancers- or should we say energy pumpers added to the bustling energy, making the experience ever so vibrant.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Adhata Trust for collaborating with Photography Promotion Trust on the documentation of the senior citizens’ run at TMM 2026. As photographers, we were reminded that the camera has the power to challenge assumptions about age, ability, and participation-by making visible moments of strength, joy, and collective presence. These images stand as a testament to a community that continues to move, celebrate, and claim public space with confidence.
